Plans for converting the historic Malibu Ranch into a private empire
for the business leaders of Southern California, were being mapped out
today by Louis T. Busch, past president of the Santa Monica Bay District
Realty Board, following his appointment this week as general sales agent
for the Marblehead Land Co. * With 17,000 acres of land to sell, and 22
miles of ocean frontage thrown in , — -

our sales program provides that the
residential character of the entire
ranch is to be maintained strictly j
with the exception of two small
neighborhood service centers, one of
which is already in existence.
S. M. BUSINESS CENTER
"Under this program. Santa Mon¬
ica will become the logical business
center for a steadily growing popu¬
lation with a tremendous buying
power, and we are convinced that j
the development of the ranch will
bring a tremendous volume of new
business to Santa Monica stores."
Architectural, rather than price
restrictions, Bush declared, are be¬
ing placed on all properties sold, in
order that, the property may be de¬
veloped as a harmonious whole.
"Experience in recent years," he
said, "has shown clearly that archi¬
tectural restrictions are actually
more Important than price restric¬
tions in determining the character j
of a residential development, and
we are determined to see that the
Malibu Ranch homes shall blend
Into the background provided by
the ranch itself,"
