Consult the guidance below to learn how to find, view, save, and share records in the Pepperdine Libraries Digital Collections. 

All of the downloaded files from this site will be in a compressed format. If you would like to request a higher resolution version of a digital record, send an email to specialcollections@pepperdine.edu with the below information: 

  • Name, institution, and description of publication or project
  • Title of item, Asset ID (found in item metadata details) or link to item on Digital Collections Site, and Collection name

You will be asked to complete a Permission to Publish Application Form

Please be advised that materials may be subject to copyright. Pepperdine University does not make any representations or warranties regarding the copyright status of any items in its library system. The applicant is responsible for determining the copyright status of any such materials, and in all cases of copyrighted materials, for securing any necessary permission from the copyright owner. The University reserves the right to require proof of such permission, or proof that such permission is not legally required, before copying or releasing a copy of any item.

If you would like to view physical collection materials, please email specialcollections@pepperdine.edu to schedule an appointment, as advanced notice of your visit is required to ensure availability of materials and staff assistance. We are generally available Monday - Friday, 9 AM - 5 PM, on days Payson Library is open

In preparation for your visit, please bring a photo ID to register. Laptops, pencils, and cameras are welcome. Pens, food, and drink are not allowed at the research tables or near the materials. Please see our usage guidelines for more information on what to expect during your research visit.

Special Collections is located in Room 352 in Payson Library on Pepperdine's Malibu campus, located at 24255 Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu, CA. If you are coming from off campus, please request a visitor's permit and a token at the security guard booth and proceed to the Visitor Lot within the Seaver Main Lot.
