Pepperdine University Publications
Pepperdine Publications includes fifteen periodicals and newsletters published by Pepperdine over the years, including student magazines, alumni and donor publications, department newsletters, and faculty and staff newsletters.
Pepperdine’s student magazine was published under the name Oasis from its founding in 1966 until 1991, when it was renamed Currents. Written and edited entirely by undergraduate students, it provides in-depth coverage of campus and national news, contemporary social issues, and student literature and art, with a particular focus on photography.
Pepperdine People was a donor-focused magazine that was published from 1977 to 2007, and overlapped with Pepperdine Voice, an alumni-focused publication that ran from 1986 to 2008. Pepperdine Magazine replaced both of these publications in 2009, and broadened the scope, focusing on the entire university community of alumni, students, faculty, staff, and friends.
Other publications include Peptalk: A Newsletter for Faculty and Staff, and various school and department newsletters. The Graphic—Pepperdine’s primary student newspaper—has its own digital collection. So do Inner View, which was published on Pepperdine’s original Los Angeles campus after the Graphic had moved to Malibu, and On The Beam, a newsletter for students and alumni serving in the U.S. Armed Forces during the Second World War.
